The Planning Commission reviews and approves site and concept plans for the development and/or re-development of commercial, office, industrial and planned sites, as well as all minor and major subdivision plats. The Planning Commission also makes recommendations to the Board of Commissioners regarding amendments to the Comprehensive Plan and Maps, annexations, zoning assignments and re-designations, amendments to the Zoning and Land Use Control and Standards for Land Subdivision text, as well as any other recommendations which guide the City’s growth and development.

The Committee to Elect Judge Mike Meares is having a free BBQ Bash this Saturday, July 19, from noon until 2 p.m. at the Greenbelt Pavilion in Maryville.

There will be live music from Mountain Gap and free BBQ, face painting, cotton candy and door prizes for those who most creatively show their support for Blount County Circuit Court Judge Mike Meares. Come on out and enjoy great food, great music and lots of fun with your neighbors at the Meares Campaign BBQ Bash.

Art in the Park

Saturday, August 9th, from 10 AM to 3 PM.

There will be workshops on printmaking, sculpting birds and bugs, water color painting, foil relief art, and more.

Art from local artists will be on display. Any artist can enter their work, if it is done August 4, 5, 6, or 7. The work should depict scenes in the parks or streets of Maryville/Alcoa which can include people, etc. All types of work- representational, abstract, fantasy, etc. is acceptable.
