That's what it's called when the people take responsibility into their own hands for tracking, and participating in, their local government. Thanks, Forrest, for this post. And thank you, Local, for the many times lately that you've posted meeting agendas here. For those of you who follow my blog, you know that I care very much about the involvement of Blount County's people in Blount County's government.
This post is full of good information- use it!

I would, but I think the Blount County web site is down.
That is the reason I now download and save every new pdf they put on the site.
Just checked the county website (at 12:18 p.m. on Friday) and it was working fine. The agenda for next week's commission meeting, however, is not yet up. It should be there before the day's up, so just check back every now and then.
The county website is Link.... Click on "Elected Officials" and then "Commission". Scroll down the page a bit, and you'll find-- after a stack of Public Notice announcements-- agendas and packets for current meetings. At the moment, you'll see the packet for the August CC meeting and the September Finance Committee meeting. Later today, that August packet should be replaced with version 1 of our packet for next week.
Hope that helps...

Also, note the links to "government websites" over in the right sidebar at the bottom, with links to local government websites and some other useful sites. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions for sites they would like to see added, or add them yourself (create content --> links).
