A Community Briefing will be held regarding a change in the route for the Pellissippi Parkway Extension, Alternative A. An environmentally sensitive area, that apparently must be avoided, was found during further studies of the area. The route will be changed near the Kensington Place mobile home community, either 150 feet west into the community or 300 feet east away from the community.

The meeting will be held:

Thursday, May 30, 2013
5 - 7 PM
Rio Revolution Church
3425 E. Lamar ALexander Parkway,
Maryville, TN 37804
(Approx. 10 miles from the airport, 4 miles past Blount Memorial Hospital, out TN-73 E/US-321 N/E Lamar Alexander Pkwy towards Townsend, on the left. If you get to the road going to Heritage High School you have gone too far.)

UPDATE: Pellissippi Parkway Extension (SR 162) Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)

The comment period for the proposed avoidance shifts has been extended to Saturday, June 15, 2013. Below is a link to the comment form including the June 15th date. Please feel free to share this comment form with others.

Materials presented at the Community Briefing have been posted on the project website - (link...).

TDOT PPE Comment Form

When: Wed. December 31, 1969 6:00 PM

TDOT has scheduled a public meeting for Tuesday, July 20, from 5-7pm in the Heritage High School Auditorium.

According to the TDOT Notice of Public Hearing:

This is a notice regarding the "Availability of the Approved Pellissippi Parkway Extension (SR162) Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).

The purpose of the hearing is to provide the public an opportunity to comment on the findings of the EIS and the proposed project prior to completion of the final environmental document.

A formal presentation will be followed by a question and answer period.

Update: This will provide a TDOT 10/08 newsletter with a map of the proposed PPE routes. I'm not positive, but I believe route B is no longer a consideration.

CAPPE (Citizens Against the Pellissippi Parkway Extension, Inc.) members are preparing for the upcoming TDOT meeting on October 25 at Heritage High School from 5-8pm. For initial analysis, see below. For background, see (link...)

Also worth noting is that TDOT gave less than 3 weeks notice for this meeting, in violation of their own policy to provide 30 days notice for all public meetings. See (link...)

At the Oct. 25 meeting TDOT will present the ‘Purpose and Need’ for the PPE as well as ‘initial alternatives.’ The public will have opportunities to comment on the Purpose and Need and the alternatives. Written comments can be sent to TDOT for 21 days after the Oct. 25 meeting.
