Maryville’s Department of Motor Vehicles branch has been closed since Aug. 4 because of the staff shortage. It will reopen Aug. 18, if all goes well.

TDHS Communications Director Wesley Moster said that the shortage came about because of “health reasons.” He would not say whether the closing was related to COVID-19.

The article says the closest options for Blount residents who need license-related service, including reinstatements, are in West Knox County at 430 Montbrook Lane. The branches in Sevierville an Oak Ridge are also mentioned. There is an office at the Strawberry Plains branch and, according to the website, it is open.

It is recommended to make an appointment or call before going to one of the open locations.
